About Us
Percy A Hudson Timber Merchants, a family run firm now into it’s fourth generation, started in 1911, taking over from an existing sawmill on the site, which had been operating since 1853.

The original buildings were completely destroyed by fire in June 1956 and the rebuilding of the new sawmill completed in March 1957.

February 1998 saw the opening of a new sales area and shop front, moved downstairs from the previous small trade counter upstairs.
April 2002 again saw the company devastated by a fire, caused by an explosion from an adjacent chemical plant. The resulting cloud was visible through out the region and neighbouring homes evacuated. The sawmill and office were saved although most of the storage areas and stock were lost. The company continued to trade and the building of the new warehouse was completed early 2003.
